VFS Global’s Adelaide Visa Application Center (VAC) in Australia had suspended all visa, consular, and passport services. The services has restarted from today, February 3. However, the entry will be only subject to prior appointments. The company also said that temporarily only a limited number of applicants will be accommodated currently owing to Covid-19 guidelines.

“Effective February 3, 2022, our Indian passport and visa services Centre in Adelaide will resume operations with safety measures in place, strictly by appointment. Owing to our physical distancing measures, only a limited number of customers will be accommodated. Please check our website www.vfsglobal.com or the Embassy/Consulate website for further updates,” the statement said.

The emergency service is available for US passport holders of Indian origin and their family members required to visit India due to a genuine family emergency, such as a critical illness or the death of a family member

The services had been temporarily suspended from January 18 due to rising Covid-19 cases in Australia. The company had also announced the suspension of similar services in Canberra on January 14, which is still in place.

In another update, VFS Global had announced that it will not accept any in-person application for Indian visas in the US until further notice due to the Covid-19 situation. However, Indian visa customers can still apply via post by the postal process or through emergency visa services resumed by VFS Global in early December 2021. The emergency service is available for US passport holders of Indian origin and their family members required to visit India due to a genuine family emergency, such as a critical illness or the death of a family member.
