Senior diplomat Abhishek Shukla to assume charge in Belgrade soon
The Government of India has appointed Abhishek Shukla (IFS:2006) as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Serbia. Shukla, who is currently serving as the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of India in Beijing, will soon take up his new assignment in Belgrade.
A seasoned Indian Foreign Service officer from the 2006 batch, Abhishek Shukla brings extensive diplomatic experience and is expected to play a key role in strengthening India–Serbia relations.

His appointment reflects India’s continued focus on deepening bilateral ties with Serbia, particularly in areas of trade, investment, culture, and people-to-people exchanges

New Delhi has maintained a strong partnership with Belgrade, rooted in historical ties through the Non-Aligned Movement and expanding cooperation in recent years across multiple sectors
With Shukla’s diplomatic background in one of India’s most important missions—Beijing—his experience is likely to add value in navigating complex international dynamics while advancing India’s strategic and economic interests in Serbia.
