Investigators say more details are expected to emerge as the probe continues
The Amritsar district police have arrested a man accused of murdering his Non-Resident Indian (NRI) wife and fleeing the city after the crime. The accused, identified as Mandeep Singh Dhillon, was arrested from Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan following a targeted police operation based on intelligence inputs and mobile tracking.
According to police officials, Mandeep Singh, a resident of Jethuwal village in Amritsar, was married to Prabhjot Kaur from Waraich village in Gurdaspur district for around seven years. After their marriage, the couple moved to Austria, where they lived for several years. Police said their relationship initially appeared stable, but tensions grew overseas after Mandeep began suspecting his wife of having an extra-marital relationship. These suspicions reportedly led to frequent arguments and alleged physical abuse.
