Abu Dhabi Tourism Growth: Nearly 5 million guests welcomed through October 2024

Abu Dhabi has experienced a remarkable surge in international visitors, recording a 26% year-on-year increase in hotel guests during the first ten months of 2024. The UAE capital welcomed nearly five million guests, according to data released by the Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT) Abu Dhabi, reported agbi.com.

Strategic Investments in Tourism

Under its ambitious Tourism Strategy 2030, Abu Dhabi aims to attract 39.3 million visitors, create 178,000 new jobs in the tourism sector, and contribute AED 90 billion (USD 24.49 billion) to GDP by 2030. As part of this vision, the emirate plans to invest AED 36.72 billion (USD 10 billion) in infrastructure.

Hosting World-Class Events

Abu Dhabi has established itself as a premier destination for global sporting events. These include hosting the NBA, the Formula 1 Grand Prix, the Indian Premier League cricket matches, the ITU World Triathlon, and the FINA Swimming World Championships.

Saood Abdulaziz Al Hosani, Under-Secretary of DCT Abu Dhabi, stated, “By crafting authentic experiences, developing our infrastructure, and fostering talent, community engagement, and key partnerships, we are shaping the emirate into a thriving global leader in the tourism and culture sector.”

Key international markets contributing to this growth include India, China, Russia, the UK, and Saudi Arabia. Additionally, more than 3.9 million visitors attended Abu Dhabi’s cultural events and landmarks, representing a 21% rise compared to the same period last year.
