Air India and Singapore Airlines have taken a major step towards strengthening their long-standing partnership by signing a commercial cooperation framework agreement. The agreement sets the groundwork for future joint business arrangements that aim to improve air connectivity between India and Singapore and offer more choices to travellers.

The agreement was signed in Mumbai on January 16, 2026, by Air India’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Campbell Wilson, and Singapore Airlines’ Chief Executive Officer, Goh Choon Phong. Subject to regulatory approvals, both airlines will now work towards finalising detailed joint business agreements.

  • Once in place, the partnership is expected to make travel smoother and more convenient for passengers. Customers may be able to book flights operated by both airlines as part of a single journey, with better connections and a wider range of routes

  • The airlines also plan to coordinate flight schedules more closely to reduce waiting times and improve overall travel convenience

The cooperation could also benefit business travellers through expanded corporate travel programmes. In addition, members of Air India’s Maharaja Club and Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer loyalty programmes may enjoy enhanced privileges beyond the current Star Alliance benefits.

At present, Air India and Singapore Airlines codeshare on 61 destinations across 20 countries and territories. This follows a significant expansion of their codeshare arrangement in October 2024, which added 51 new domestic and international destinations to their combined networks.

Looking ahead, both airlines will explore extending their cooperation to selected markets beyond India and Singapore, subject to approvals. This move aims to meet rising demand for global travel, strengthen traffic through their main hubs, and support the growth of aviation and tourism in both countries.
