The Government of Ajman has rolled out a progressive new policy called the ‘Balanced Summer’ initiative, designed to support public sector employees with improved work-life balance during the peak summer months. The initiative, which will be in effect from July 1 to August 22, 2025, was approved under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Executive Council, reported timesofindia.indiatimes.com.

This move is part of Ajman’s wider vision to promote community welfare under the “Year of Community” and contributes to the emirate’s strategic goals, including environmental sustainability and operational excellence. The initiative is being closely aligned with Ajman Vision 2030.

Key Features of the ‘Balanced Summer’ Initiative:

  • 100% Remote Work on Fridays:

Employees will work fully from home every Friday, reducing commute times and allowing for greater flexibility.

  • Shortened Work Hours (Monday to Thursday):

Government offices will operate from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM, reducing the daily schedule by one hour without compromising services.

  • Uninterrupted Essential Services:

The government has ensured that public services will remain functional through internal coordination and flexible arrangements.

Ajman’s ‘Balanced Summer’ brings 100% remote work on Fridays and shorter weekday hours for government employees, prioritizing family well-being and sustainability

Leadership Prioritizes Employee Welfare

During the Executive Council meeting, Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi emphasized the initiative’s human-centric approach. He stated that under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, the government remains committed to creating a supportive, flexible, and people-first workplace.

He highlighted that prioritizing the well-being of employees directly enhances institutional performance and public service quality, which are crucial to Ajman’s developmental goals.

Long-Term Goals and Environmental Impact

Beyond the immediate benefits for employees, the initiative aims to support environmental sustainability by lowering daily vehicular traffic and reducing carbon emissions—key pillars of Ajman Vision 2030.

To ensure successful execution and measurable outcomes, the Human Resources Department, in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Executive Council, will:

  • Implement internal operational frameworks
  • Monitor and ensure compliance
  • Submit a comprehensive impact report by September 2025 measuring:

o          Employee satisfaction

o          Public service continuity

o          Community happiness

o          Overall institutional performance

Ajman Leads with Flexible, Vision-Driven Governance

As the emirate joins Sharjah and Dubai in implementing summer-specific work reforms, the ‘Balanced Summer’ initiative positions Ajman as a leader in empathy-driven governance, focused on employee well-being, family life, and sustainability.
