Indian-origin streaming CEO elected to Harvard University’s Board of Overseers amid key leadership changes
Anjali Sud, the Indian-origin CEO of streaming platform Tubi, has been elected to Harvard University’s prestigious Board of Overseers. She will fill the position left vacant by Mark Carney, who stepped down on March 9 after becoming the leader of Canada’s Liberal Party, reported gujaratsamachar.com.
Sud brings global tech leadership experience to Harvard’s governance body at a time of institutional transformation.
Sud joins the Board of Overseers during a critical phase for Harvard, which continues to face political and public scrutiny, particularly in its strained relations with the Donald Trump administration. Her appointment is part of the university’s broader effort to bring innovative and inclusive leadership to its governing bodies.
In addition, Sanjay Seth, another Indian-origin executive, was elected as one of six new directors on the Harvard Alumni Association (HAA) board.
Anjali Sud is a Harvard graduate and tech visionary with a strong track record in media, education, and social impact
Sud has led Tubi, a free TV and movie streaming service with nearly 100 million monthly users, since 2023. Before Tubi, she was CEO of Vimeo, where she transformed the company into a leading platform for video creators.
She currently chairs the board of Change.org, serves on the board of Dolby Laboratories, and is actively involved with Phillips Academy Andover’s development board, particularly on financial aid initiatives.
“My parents came to this country to give me a shot at the American Dream,” Sud said in a statement. “I achieved that dream through the power of a transformative education, and I want to pay it forward… Harvard has both the opportunity and imperative to define the future of higher education at a time of existential change.”
