Tim Cook confirms aggressive retail expansion in India’s key cities and the Middle East as part of Apple’s global growth strategy
Apple is set to significantly strengthen its presence in India and the Middle East, with CEO Tim Cook announcing plans to open multiple new stores ahead of the iPhone 17 launch. During the company’s latest earnings call, Cook revealed that four new Apple Stores will open in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, and Delhi NCR by the end of the year. This follows the success of Apple’s first two Indian retail outlets — Apple BKC in Mumbai and Apple Saket in Delhi — launched in 2023. The expansion is part of a broader retail push that also includes a new Apple Store in Al Ain, UAE, and the recent launch of Apple Store Online in Saudi Arabia, reported timesofindia.indiatimes.com.
“We couldn’t be more excited to open new stores in the UAE and India later this year,” Cook said, underlining Apple’s commitment to delivering premium experiences in high-growth markets
To support this expansion, Apple is hiring for its upcoming outlets, with Apple Store leader John Taffe calling for “passionate and talented individuals” to join the retail team. The company aims to not only boost product accessibility but also create jobs and enhance in-store experiences for customers.
Apple’s retail momentum extends beyond India. In the UAE, the new Al Ain location will add to its existing four stores, while the Saudi online store marks a further step into the Middle East market. Globally, Apple’s retail strategy is fueled by strong financial performance, with Q3 iPhone sales rising 13% year-on-year despite challenging economic conditions.
India remains one of Apple’s most important growth markets, driven by rising incomes, higher smartphone adoption, and a growing preference for premium devices. With competition from brands like Samsung and OnePlus, Apple’s focus on high-quality retail experiences could secure it a stronger foothold in the country’s premium smartphone segment.
