Augmented reality (AR) glasses are transforming the way people interact with digital content, and Indian developers are seizing the opportunity to create immersive experiences.

At Snap’s AR Day event in Mumbai, industry experts and developers showcased the potential of AR glasses, which allow users to interact with virtual objects in real-world environments, reported timesofindia.indiatimes.com.

Indian developers embrace AR innovation with Snap’s Lens Studio

Snap’s latest AR spectacles, currently available in developer mode, are foldable, lightweight, and untethered, enabling seamless interactions without the need for external hardware.

These glasses project digital elements into the user’s surroundings using waveguide technology, offering a more natural way to interact with computing. Developers are leveraging Snap’s Lens Studio to build AR applications, ranging from interactive games to AI-powered assistants.

Hands-free gaming and AI-driven experiences redefine AR possibilities

Jeetesh Singh, a freelance XR creator, demonstrated his AR game, Signs of Doom, where players use hand gestures as controllers to engage in action-packed gameplay.

The challenge of optimizing assets and managing game logic within Snap’s 25MB file limit pushed Singh to refine his development process, completing the project in just four weeks

Meanwhile, AR developer Kavin K is experimenting with AI integration, envisioning a futuristic assistant similar to those seen in sci-fi films. His work explores real-time overlays that can identify tasks, provide contextual information, and even communicate with users. He emphasizes that smaller developers can now compete in AR innovation, thanks to accessible tools like Lens Studio.

With Indian developers rapidly embracing AR, the technology is poised for widespread adoption across gaming, e-commerce, and beyond. The rise of wearable AR devices signals a shift where digital interactions are no longer confined to screens but seamlessly blend into daily life.
