As the consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya approaches after 550 years, temples across the United States are gearing up for a series of events to celebrate this historic occasion, with thousands of Indian-Americans expected to participate, according to a PTI report in the Tribune, Chandigarh.

“Ayodhya is re-emerging from destruction and neglect, epitomizing the eternal nature of Sanatana Dharma. The upcoming consecration at Ram Lalla Mandir is bringing immense joy to the city and nearly a billion Hindus across the world,” the report quoted Kalyan Viswanathan, President of the Hindu University of America, as saying in a recent blog post.

With approximately 1,000 temples in the US, nearly all are set to commence celebrations this weekend to mark this historic occasion

The report quoted Kapil Sharma from the Shri Sita Ram Foundation in Texas, who said, “organizing the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Pran Pratishtha celebration in Houston, emphasized the importance of this day.”

The festivities will commence with the Sundarkand, followed by cultural programs featuring dance and singing. A havan and Lord Ram’s Pattabhishek will be conducted, culminating in a procession of Lord Ram and the distribution of prasad (food).

“We are also honored to distribute prasad and raj (holy dust) from Ayodhya Dham, specially flown in for our event,” added Sharma.

Maryland Governor Wes Moore is slated to attend a Ram Mandir celebration event in a Washington DC suburb on Saturday, with some Pakistani Americans joining the festivities in the Greater Washington DC area.

Amitabh Mittal from Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America, leading the nationwide festivities, expressed, “The long-awaited dream of millions of followers of Lord Sri Ram is about to become a reality.”
