20-km heritage route to connect Bharat Kund with Ranopali, enhancing religious tourism and infrastructure
In a major development aimed at boosting religious tourism, Ayodhya is set to receive a new 20-kilometre pilgrimage route named Bharat Path. The ₹900 crore project will connect two important sites associated with Lord Ram’s younger brother, Bharat—Bharat Kund and Ranopali—along the Prayagraj Highway, reported timesofindia.indiatimes.com.
According to Ayodhya district magistrate Nikhil Tikaram Funde, the road will not only widen and improve existing infrastructure but will also blend modern facilities with traditional heritage aesthetics. The project is currently in its initial planning phase, and proposals have been submitted to higher authorities for final approval.
New pilgrimage corridor to further Ayodhya’s transformation into a global religious tourism hub
Bharatkund, located 18 kilometres south of Ayodhya, holds spiritual significance as the site where Bharat placed Lord Ram’s padukas and fasted for fourteen years during Ram’s exile. It is also believed to be the location where Bharat met Ram upon his return from Lanka after defeating Ravan.
The Bharat Path is seen as another key step in Ayodhya’s ongoing transformation. Recent infrastructure developments include the upgrade of the local railway line from metre gauge to double broad gauge and the inauguration of an international airport. The Bharat Path project is expected to bring additional facilities, promote regional development, and generate employment, reinforcing Ayodhya’s growing stature as a global pilgrimage destination.
