The activities of Bait Al Zubair Philosophical Forum start today Monday, May 16, at Bait Al Zubair, in its first edition until May 19, with the participation of several Arab intellectuals, philosophers, and researchers.
The opening ceremony will be under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Dr. Fahd bin Al-Julandi Al Said – President of Sultan Qaboos University, including the forum’s speech and its objectives aimed at creating an interactive and communicative atmosphere among researchers and specialists
The forum includes the opening of an exhibition of philosophical and intellectual books, with the participation of several Omani libraries: Rawazin, Lotus, 234, Quraa’ Al Ma’arefah, Readers’ Lobby, thawaqa’, Beirut, and Dar Nather.
In addition the forum will also feature the opening of the Omani Art Exhibition, which includes the abstract works of 14 Omani artists like Muhammad Nizam, Hassan Mir, Maryam Al Zadjali, Rabha Mahmoud, Abdul Karim Al Maimani, Naelah Al Maamari, Saleh Al Alawi, Radhika Hamlai, Inaam Ahmed, Nadia Al Balushi and Zahra Al Jamali. , and Aliah al-Farsi, Yasser al-Dinki, and Muhammad Al Zubair.
The opening of the forum is preceded by a philosophical workshop for children entitled “Big Ideas for Young Ages” presented by Ms. Dalia Tounsi from Saudi Arabia, who is the Director-General of the Baseera Al-Afkar Foundation for Educational Consultations.
The first day of the forum will include the inauguration of the Philosophy Project for children, represented in translating several books by the French philosopher Oscar Brenifier, in cooperation with the Nathan French publishing house, and the Lebanese translator Marie Tawk, who translated the three books. In addition to the inauguration of the philosophy books for young people written by Moroccan writer and translator Mohamed Ait Hanna.
Also, there will be an announcement of Sadiq Jawad Prize for Intellectual Studies, which aims to dedicate the values of human knowledge and enhance research spaces for Omani researcher and provide the Omani and Arabic libraries with intellectual products. Researcher Badr Al-Abri and Professor Muhammad Reda Al-Lawati, will give a dialogue about Sadiq Jawad and directed by Dr. Zakaria Al-Mahrami.

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Chaouki El-Zein from Algeria will also participate in a session entitled “On the Origin of Philosophy: The Intersection of Philosophical Experience and Sufi Experience” and Prof. Dr. Abdel Salam Benabdelali in another session entitled “Philosophy and Translation”. The writer and media figure Amal Al-Saidi will moderate these two sessions.
The forum will include important research papers by known Arab intelictualls; “Critique of the Contemporary Philosophical Reason: Philosophy and the Current Crises of Humanity” by Dr. Abdulaah Abah from Mauritania, “On the Origin of Philosophy: The Intersection of Philosophical Experience and Sufi Experience” by Dr, Mohamed Chaouki Al Zein, and “Philosophy and Translation” by Dr. Abdel Salam Benabdelali.
In addition to other papers that will be presented at the second and third days of the forum like, “The Mind between Philosophers and Scholars of Fundamentals: A Critical Reading” by Dr. Radwan Al-Sayed, “Posthumanism and European Centralism” by the Omani researcher Mohammed Al-Ajmi and other papers that will be presented by Dr. Mushir Bassil Aoun, the Omani researcher Ali Al-Rawahi, Dr. Muhammad Al-Misbahi and Dr. Al-Zawawi Baghoura.
This forum aims to determine the transformations of the philosophical lesson and discourse, to enhance the values of philosophical awareness, to bring the cognitive distance between the philosophical text and the public mind, and to contribute to the philosophical research movement.
Furthermore, introducing the vitality of the network of relations between philosophy, science and other subjects, creating an interactive and communicative atmosphere between researchers and specialists from various philosophical references and formations.
It is noteworthy to mention that this forum comes in cooperation with Ara Petroleum and Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort.
