Bangladesh’s interim government has accused Indian media of supporting an alleged campaign by the Awami League to portray Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus as a “militant leader” amid claims of banning Sheikh Hasina’s party, reported timesofindia.indiatimes.com.

“A Well-Orchestrated Campaign,” Says Yunus’s Press Secretary

Shafiqul Alam, press secretary to Yunus, claimed that “Hasina’s oligarchs” were spending millions to push this narrative. “The Indian media is also involved in this,” he alleged.

Referring to Awami League’s messaging, Alam pointed out, “Their message is clear—Yunus is a militant leader, and he is surrounded by militant leaders.”

He accused Hasina’s followers of trying to rewrite the July mass uprising, portraying it not as a people’s movement but as a major conspiracy.

Potential Ban on Awami League Under Consideration

Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, an adviser for local government and a leader of the students’ movement, suggested that the interim government might soon take steps to ban Awami League as a political party.
