Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust steps in to help grieving family in Hoshiarpur
Amritsar: The mortal remains of 26-year-old Dharambir, a resident of Lehara village near Garhshankar in Hoshiarpur district, were brought back to India from Dubai on Thursday. His body arrived at Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport in Amritsar and was received by representatives of Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust and his grieving family, reported timesofindia.indiatimes.com.
Dharambir had been working as a labourer in Dubai for the past five years, striving to support his family financially and secure a better future—like many other young Indians employed overseas.
Unable to afford repatriation, the family received support from Sarbat Da Bhala Trust, which has helped bring home 419 bodies of Indians who died abroad
According to his family, Dharambir suddenly fell ill and was admitted to a hospital in Dubai, where he died of a heart attack on July 17. The body was later transported to his native village in Punjab using the trust’s free ambulance service.
SPS Oberoi, managing trustee of Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust, said the organisation learned about the family’s financial hardship and intervened to help. “We have so far facilitated the return of the mortal remains of around 419 Indian youth who passed away overseas,” said Oberoi.
While it remains unclear whether Dharambir’s last rites have taken place, the trust confirmed its continued commitment to supporting Indian families facing similar tragedies abroad.
