Celbration of Telangana’s Non-Violent Statehood Struggle: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) NRI-UK chapter commemorated Deeksha Diwas in London, celebrating a pivotal moment in Telangana’s statehood movement
Speaking on the occasion, Naveen Reddy highlighted the historic significance of November 29, 2009. On this day, BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) launched a hunger strike, which catalyzed the peaceful movement for Telangana’s statehood. Reddy emphasized how KCR’s leadership and commitment rallied the people of Telangana and ultimately achieved statehood through a non-violent struggle, reported telanganatoday.com.
Anil Kurmachalam, the founder president of BRS NRI-UK, drew parallels between KCR’s approach and Mahatma Gandhi’s principles of non-violence.
“Chandrashekhar Rao’s peaceful struggle stands as a testament to his vision and resilience, offering a global message of progress through non-violence,” he remarked. He also expressed gratitude to the Telangana diaspora for their unwavering support during the movement and their continued contributions to the state’s development initiatives post-formation.
The event, organized by BRS NRI-UK president Naveen Reddy, united BRS supporters and cadre from across the United Kingdom in a show of solidarity and remembrance
The event also saw active participation from other BRS NRI leaders, including Hari Goud Navapet. They reiterated their commitment to supporting KCR’s mission for a prosperous and progressive Telangana, underscoring the role of the diaspora in driving the state’s development agenda forward.
