The first meeting of the NRI Cell formed to connect the NRIs of Chhattisgarh and to preserve and propagate the art and literature of Chhattisgarh was held recently. Manoj Pingua, Principal Secretary, Home Department, presided over the meeting. Discussions were held about maintaining lively relations with Non-Resident Indians and take necessary suggestions and obtaining information for the progress of the state.
In the meeting, discussions were also held regarding the preparation of data of NRIs of Chhattisgarh and appointing NRIs interested in the art culture of Chhattisgarh as coordinators in the NRI cell. To encourage all activities in accordance with the interests of non-resident Indians, the talks centered about providing opportunities for connectivity and investment to non-resident Indians living outside the country to increase and develop Chhattisgarh’s literary and cultural activities.
The officials of the Department of Education and Culture were told to prepare an action plan to encourage NRIs to participate in the educational sector development programmes and to encourage them to participate in the socio-economic sector development programmes in the state. Deliberations were also held in the meeting regarding the enumeration of the organizations of NRIs and the creation of a network of their organisations.
In the meeting, Secretary of Culture Department P. Anbalagan, Secretary of Home Department Arun Dev Gautam, Secretary of Education Department Dr. S. Bharathidasan, Secretary General Administration Department DD Singh and senior officials of Home Department were present.
