Conference for Women Peacekeepers: “Women in Peacekeeping – A Global South Perspective”

India to host the first-ever global conference focusing on women peacekeepers

The inaugural Conference for Women Peacekeepers with the theme “Women in Peacekeeping: A Global South Perspective” will be held in New Delhi on 24-25 February 2025.

The event is organized by the Ministry of External Affairs in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence and the Centre for United Nations Peacekeeping (CUNPK).

The conference will host women peacekeepers from 35 Troop Contributing Countries (TCCs) across the Global South. India’s External Affairs Minister will deliver the keynote address, highlighting the critical role of women in peacekeeping missions.

UN Representation and Key Participants

Senior United Nations officials, including Jean-Pierre Lacroix, UN Under-Secretary-General for the Department of Peace Operations, and Christian Saunders, UN Special Coordinator, will attend the conference. They will engage with stakeholders involved in global peacekeeping efforts.

The conference will bring together women peacekeepers from 35 Global South countries

Additionally, the participating women peacekeepers will have the honor of meeting with the Hon’ble President of India during the conference.

The event aims to foster dialogue on strengthening women’s participation in peacekeeping operations and promote collaboration among Global South nations.
