Consulate rejects article warning exporters against dealing with UAE-based companies

The Indian consulate in Dubai denies issuing a warning regarding UAE-based companies and clarifies that the article was based on a fake circular

PRAVASISAMWAD.COM

The Indian Consulate in Dubai has officially rejected an article that warned exporters against dealing with UAE-based companies, claiming the release was wrongly attributed. The article had mentioned that “certain UAE-based companies, particularly in the foodstuff and general trading sectors,” were involved in fraudulent activities, prompting the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to issue a public advisory. The article also listed specific companies that had been flagged “based on complaints received from Indian exporters and international trade partners.” , reported khaleejtimes.com.

Clarification on False Circular

After the consulate in Dubai denied issuing any such advisory, the article was updated, acknowledging that it was based on a fake circular.

  • The Ministry of External Affairs clarified that no advisory had been issued, and the claims were not legitimate

  • The updated article now warns the public against believing fraudulent messages that are often circulated in the name of the consulate or embassy

Past Warnings About Fraudulent Communications

This incident is not the first time the Indian Consulate has warned the public about misleading communications. In 2024, the consulate alerted Indian expats in the UAE about fraudulent calls, where scammers impersonated consulate officials and tried to extort money by pretending to resolve a fake immigration issue. The consulate emphasized that it does not make calls to Indian nationals regarding immigration matters.
