Georgia is becoming a popular study destination, but students should be aware that living costs are higher than in India. On average, the cost of living in Georgia is around 79 per cent more than India. An international student spends about 1,877 GEL per month, which is roughly INR 64,000, including rent, food, transport, utilities and basic lifestyle expenses.
Living costs can be managed with careful planning. Without rent, monthly expenses are close to 1,540 GEL, but accommodation quickly increases the total. Rent depends on the city and type of housing. A one-bedroom flat in a city centre costs around 1,400 GEL, while shared accommodation or university housing can reduce this to 300–800 GEL. Among student cities, Tbilisi is the most expensive, Batumi offers a balanced coastal lifestyle, and Kutaisi is the most affordable.
