Date announced for PRAVASI SAMWAD Investment Summit and Excellence Award

Gala event involving Indian diaspora and Nigerian community to be held on May 18

Lagos, Nigeria – March 9, 2024

Pravasi Samwad, a leading media outlet catering to the needs of Indian Diaspora announced inaugural Pravasi Samwad (PS) Investor Meet & Excellence Awards 2024 at a press conference in Lagos, Nigeria on Saturday, March 9, 2024. The Investor Meet and award functions are scheduled to take place in Lagos, Nigeria, on May 18, 2024, said Kaushalendra S Singh, Editor and Publisher of Pravasi Samwad, in his keynote press address.

Diwesh Mishra, Pravasi Samwad’s Africa Head, and Bhavna Batra, Director of Synerggie, an event arm of PS, also addressed the press conference.

A visiting Pravasi Samwad delegation from India and Oman held meetings with officials in the Nigerian Government and Indian businessmen and top brass in Nigerian companies to garner support for the proposed event.

The event on May 18 is set to mark a significant milestone in fostering investment opportunities and strengthening bilateral business relations between India, the Middle East, and Nigeria.

 

Kaushalendra S Singh, Editor and Publisher of Pravasi Samwad, addressed the press conference and highlighted the importance of the event for the Indian diaspora and the in-country-value they create for the countries of their residence.

“With a strong presence of 32 million NRIs and almost similar number of PIOs (People of Indian Origin) and OCIs (Overseas Citizen of India), Indians make the most vibrant community in the world.  Pravasi Samwad Excellence Awards are an effort to recognize the struggle and success of the members of the Indian diaspora. Also this is an effort to establish a global connect with the Indian diaspora,” he said.

Singh hinted at setting up of a Nigeria edition of Pravasi Samwad to highlight the issues and achievements of the Indian Diaspora in Nigeria.

“Categories are under consideration for the award ceremony while there would be a dedicated website with the name of PRAVASI EXCELLENCE AWARDS to register or nominate self or others for the Award and to take part in the Investor meet,” he said.

Among the event attendees were Pravin Kumar, Group CFO, Daraju. He said he was excited for the proposed event and the magazine to highlight the issues and events of the Indian community in Nigeria. He also announced personal financial support for the upcoming venture.

In his press statement Diwesh Mishra said, “The Pravasi Investor Meet and Excellence Awards aims to bring together prospective investors from India, Middle East and other parts of the world on a single platform, providing an exceptional opportunity for networking, collaboration, and the exploration of investment prospects in Nigeria.”

The event aims to facilitate investment in Nigeria and enhance the country’s global perception as a business and tourist destination,” he said.

“We held meeting with HE Folashande Ambrose-Medebem, Commissioner Lagos State Ministry of Commerce, Cooperative, Trade & Investment. She and her team assured all possible support to our event and called for some fruitful engagement with Pravasi Samwad to bring investments in Lagos.”

“A lot has been happening in Nigeria in the business sector. It needs proper direction and acceptance in the global business community. This event is an attempt to boost business opportunities in the country,” Mishra said.

Bhavna threw light on the flow of the event and said, “The event will feature discussions to foster collaboration and recognize outstanding contributions of companies in Nigeria, particularly those impacting the Indian community. Investors from India and the Middle East, along with corporate representatives, government officials, and key stakeholders, will participate in the event.”

The Pravasi Samwad editor hailed the proposed event as a testament to the robust diplomatic ties and business relationships between India and Nigeria. “With a focus on facilitating investment discussions and fostering collaboration, the Pravasi Investor Meet and Excellence Awards is poised to be a catalyst for increased investments and stronger business ties between the participating nations.” he said.
