A cohort of Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) is amplifying their collective voice to safeguard their property and wealth in India, as reported by m9.news. Numerous NRIs have fallen victim to scams and fraudulent activities, with criminals unlawfully seizing or selling their properties and belongings.

In response, a global movement is underway, as NRIs from various corners of the world prepare to march to Indian embassies, conveying their concerns. The NRI Grievance Group, an association advocating for NRIs, is set to embark on a bicycle rally to the Indian Consulate Office in San Francisco.

  • Facing an uncertain return, leaving behind possessions beyond what fits in a suitcase proves to be one of the most challenging aspects of their journey

Simultaneously, other petitioners plan to stage marches at the Indian embassy in London. Similar events are scheduled in Canada, Australia, the Middle East, and various European countries.

NRIs are urging Indian political parties to include property protection in their 2024 election manifestos. Additionally, they express readiness to pursue legal avenues to ensure the government guarantees the security of their assets.
