Seasoned diplomat brings over 25 years of experience to strengthen India-UAE ties
Dr. Deepak Mittal has officially assumed charge as India’s Ambassador-Designate to the United Arab Emirates, marking a new chapter in his distinguished diplomatic career. A 1998-batch Indian Foreign Service officer, Dr. Mittal has held key postings in Egypt, Israel, Bangladesh, and served as Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City. He has also represented India as Ambassador to the State of Qatar, reported newsonair.gov.
With decades of experience in both bilateral and multilateral diplomacy, Dr. Mittal is poised to enhance India-UAE relations across trade, culture, and strategic cooperation
At the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi, Dr. Mittal has led divisions handling consular affairs and managed India’s relations with Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran. He has also served in the Office of the Prime Minister of India for two terms, first as Director and later as Additional Secretary. Fluent in Hindi, English, and Arabic, he is widely recognised for his regional expertise and comprehensive diplomatic experience, positioning him to further strengthen India’s engagement with the UAE.
