Dubai launches direct non-stop bus service to Abu Dhabi with daily departures

RTA introduces express Al Quoz–MBZ City route to improve intercity connectivity and commuter convenience

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a new direct, non-stop bus service connecting Al Quoz Bus Station in Dubai to MBZ City Bus Station in Abu Dhabi. Operated in partnership with Capital Express, the express route serves areas not previously covered by existing intercity services. Each journey takes 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on traffic and costs Dh25 ($6.80) per passenger, with payments accepted via cash, contactless cards, or nol cards. Buses run every three hours, seven days a week, accommodating up to 50 passengers per trip, reported timesofindia.indiatimes.com.

The new express service offers faster, more convenient travel between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, expanding access for residents in Umm Suqeim, Al Barsha, and surrounding neighborhoods

Previously, intercity buses mainly departed from Al Ghubaiba and Ibn Battuta bus stations. The Al Quoz route provides a fresh option for commuters, enhancing accessibility across the emirates. This initiative aligns with RTA’s broader strategy to boost public transport use by linking buses with other modes such as the Dubai Metro, tram, and marine transport. The launch follows other network expansions, including the Dubai–Sharjah Route 308 introduced in May 2025, and the addition of five new city bus routes. Looking ahead, the Etihad Rail passenger service, set for 2026, promises high-speed travel between Dubai and Abu Dhabi in under an hour and will integrate with existing transit networks for seamless commuter journeys.
