The arrest followed a complaint from a medical practitioner in Pimple Gurav, Pune, who had fallen victim to an online share trading scam, losing Rs66.63 lakh. The fraudsters promised daily 1% profits through share investments, which ultimately led to the victim being duped.
During the investigation, police traced part of the money to a Kolhapur-based trader’s account. Upon arresting this trader, police uncovered the involvement of another trader from Ulhasnagar in Thane district. Further investigation revealed that Singh had instructed these traders to use mule bank accounts for receiving the fraudulent funds.
Singh, who was operating from Dubai, allegedly paid the traders a commission for helping him manage these mule accounts. Police said Singh had arrived in India to gather details of additional mule accounts for his operations.
