The Embassy of India in Muscat has launched the India-Oman Network (ION), a new platform aimed at enhancing bilateral trade and economic relations between the two countries. The hybrid forum—described as a ‘track 1.5’ initiative—will bring together government officials, industry leaders, think tanks, and other stakeholders for sustained dialogue and collaboration, reported zawya.com.

ION to act as a catalyst for unlocking trade and investment potential

The embassy highlighted that ION is designed to accelerate business connections and act as a catalyst for tapping opportunities in trade and investment. By fostering continuous engagement, the platform seeks to create a structured mechanism for identifying synergies and driving joint initiatives across sectors.

Scheduled events and participation details

After initial interactions on August 11 and 12, several activities have been planned for September. These include:

  • September 7 (1pm–2pm): Virtual ‘Discussions on the ION Concept Paper,’ inviting participants to share insights and suggestions.

  • September 7–11: Short, company-level virtual sessions offering businesses an opportunity to explore new collaborations.

  • September 11 (4pm–6pm): Official launch of ION at the Embassy of India in Muscat.

Participation is open through prior registration via embassy-shared links. Stakeholders have also been encouraged to submit details of their ongoing or planned India-Oman engagements, enabling stronger business matchmaking.

By launching ION, the Indian Embassy aims to create a sustained platform that nurtures partnerships and strengthens economic cooperation between India and Oman.
