Europe-India aviation market shows growth but holds untapped potential

Although the Europe-India market has been the fastest-growing since 2018, it is still significantly smaller than the Europe-China market

The aviation market between Europe and India has shown a healthy recovery since the challenges posed by the COVID-19 crisis and the cessation of Jet Airways operations in April 2019.

 According to a CAPA report, seat capacity between Europe and India as of July 2024 is 21% higher than six years ago, with 18 airlines operating compared to 14 in July 2018.

There remains substantial untapped potential for nonstop services from Europe to India, subject to infrastructure and bilateral agreements

Despite this growth, India remains Europe’s fourth-largest long-haul market, trailing behind the USA, Canada, and China. Although the Europe-India market has been the fastest-growing since 2018, it is still significantly smaller than the Europe-China market.

There remains substantial untapped potential for nonstop services from Europe to India, subject to infrastructure and bilateral agreements.
