Ex-Pakistan cricketer criticises PCB amid India’s dominant test win over Bangladesh

Ali elaborated on the importance of understanding pitch conditions, citing legends like Sunil Gavaskar and Javed Miandad as examples of cricketers who succeeded by mastering this skill. With the second Test between India and Bangladesh scheduled to begin on September 27, the question remains whether Bangladesh can regroup and challenge India more effectively

India’s commanding 280-run victory over Bangladesh in the first Test at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium left little doubt about their dominance on home soil. After Bangladesh’s impressive 2-0 sweep over Pakistan in a previous series, hopes were high for a competitive match, reported ndtv.com.

However, India, led by their formidable bowling attack, swiftly dismantled the visitors, finishing the game within the first session on Day 4.

Jasprit Bumrah’s five-wicket haul, alongside crucial contributions from spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, who took six and five wickets respectively, showcased India’s tactical mastery of the surface.

“In our nation, they don’t value the pitch. Those making decisions are illiterate when it comes to cricket. It frustrates me—what are they teaching the next generation?” Ali remarked

The pitch offered an exciting balance between bat and ball, which played a pivotal role in India’s success. Former Pakistan cricketer, Basit Ali, while praising the pitch curators in India, took the opportunity to criticize Pakistan’s approach to pitch preparation during Test matches.

On his YouTube channel, Basit Ali vented his frustration, particularly at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). “Bumrah picked five wickets, Ashwin took six, Jadeja got five—this shows the importance of reading the pitch well. Credit goes to the curators who understand how to create a proper Test surface,” he said. Ali contrasted this with Pakistan’s Test surfaces, stating that poor pitch preparation in his country negatively impacts player development.
