Executive lounge at Varanasi railway station set to make waiting a comfortable experience

Railway stations in India bring to mind chaotic crowds, a place where waiting is never easy. To make the waiting part of travel on trains comfortable, a state-of-the-art executive lounge has come up at Varanasi railway station, equipped with wi-fi connection, TV, train information display and lots more, thanks to Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).

To convert waiting into an experience of sorts, the design of the lounge is a balance of “Panchtattva” (Earth, Sky, Fire, Air and Water). In a way, comfort and calming effect are the focal points. A souvenir shop promoting art and craft culture of Varanasi, is a major attraction.

According to records, in 2017, over 300,000 foreign and five million domestic travellers visited Varanasi. The best time to visit is from November to February

On total payment of Rs 85 plus taxes for an hour and Rs 60 Taxes for each extra hour of stay, passengers can avail of hot or soft beverages, multi-cuisine buffets, restrooms with wash and change facilities, newspapers, magazines and a business centre with computer, printer, Photostat and fax facility.

Varanasi Junction railway station, also known as Varanasi Cantt railway station, is the main railway station in Varanasi, while the others are Banaras, Varanasi City, Pt.
