Reshma Rajeev is currently an esteemed Bharatnatyam teacher at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Cultural Cooperation in Trinidad and Tobago. Originally from India, Rajeev transitioned from a career in media to pursue her passion for dance, arriving in Trinidad and Tobago two years ago.

She is also advancing her academic journey, working towards a PhD in Dance Movement Therapy and Psychotherapy.

Since her arrival, Rajeev has been deeply impressed by the cultural parallels between Trinidadian and Indian communities. She notes the similarities in food, music, and various cultural practices. Rajeev appreciates the ease with which she can access cultural and religious activities.

“Everything we need, we can do it here. If we need to go to a temple, we can do it here, and the respect they show to other cultures here is truly admirable,” the report quoted them as saying.
