Reddit user’s post about suspicious immigration letter leaves community divided
A post on the r/USCIS Reddit community has triggered debate after a user claimed they received a suspicious appointment letter that appeared to be from US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) , reported gujaratsamachar.com.
According to their post, the letter referenced an Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, but it did not appear in their official USCIS online account. The user also noted their case status showed that they had already been interviewed on May 20, 2025, with a Request for Evidence (RFE) related to a missing polio vaccine resolved by May 26, 2025.
The user, identified as u/w_titan, said the letter “looked and felt fake” and did not match the format of other USCIS notices they had received
Redditors weighed in with mixed opinions. Some pointed out inconsistencies in the letterhead and formatting, while others said the address mentioned was authentic. Many advised the user to call USCIS directly or rely only on updates reflected in their online account.
In a later update, u/w_titan clarified that the letter had arrived in a USCIS-marked envelope, but USCIS customer service confirmed there was no appointment scheduled in their system. Despite the uncertainty, the user said they intended to attend the appointment in September to confirm its legitimacy.
The incident highlights ongoing concerns about fraudulent immigration notices and the importance of verifying all USCIS communication through official channels.
