Festive season in mind, Indian states make RT-PCR reports mandatory

Some Indian states have decided to make RT-PCR reports mandatory, keeping in mind the upcoming festival season. This is the time when people make travel plans. Festivals like Onam (August 21), Raksha Bandhan (August 22), Janmashtami (August 30) and Ganesh Chaturthi (September 10) are to be celebrated in the coming days

The Central government, too, has asked the countrymen to be careful during this time.

The coronavirus disease has been showing a resurgence in some regions of the country. The Delta variant of Covid-19, is believed to be the cause behind the rise in cases in the second wave. Many state governments, as a result, have made it mandatory for the people coming from outside to carry proof of testing, and in some cases, they are asking for vaccination certificates.

The Central government too has asked people to be careful during the time of festivals

The following states have made carrying of documents mandatory:

Tamil Nadu: The southern state has made RT-PCR and Covid vaccination certificates mandatory for people coming from Kerala.

Karnataka: This is yet another state which has made RT-PCR negative reports mandatory for those coming from Kerala: Karnataka has included Maharashtra in the list.

Himachal Pradesh: The hill state has made RT-PCR report mandatory for all incoming tourists. The test report should not be older than 72 hours.

Chhattisgarh: The RT-PCR report is mandatory to enter Chhattisgarh, too, effective from August 8.

Goa: The state, which is very popular among tourists, has also made RT-PCR mandatory.
