A 40-year-old woman has been booked by Malwani Police for allegedly criticising ‘Operation Sindoor’ on social media. The FIR was registered following a complaint filed by a Bajrang Dal member who came across the post and flagged it to the authorities, reported timesofindia.indiatimes.com.

According to officials, the controversial post appeared online two days ago. Upon being alerted by the complainant on Saturday, police moved swiftly to file a case under appropriate sections of the newly implemented Indian penal code.

The woman, who runs a beauty parlour, received a police notice and was warned after her post drew legal action under the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The woman has not been arrested, but police confirmed that a formal warning was issued alongside the notice.

‘Operation Sindoor’ refers to the Indian armed forces’ retaliatory strikes conducted on May 7 against terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. These strikes came in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians.

While the military action received widespread national support, it has also sparked polarised reactions online — with this case marking one of the first legal actions over social media commentary on the operation.
