Vanisa Dhiru from New Zealand becomes the first NRI to visit the Srimandir during PBD 2025 celebrations
Odisha is hosting the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) in Bhubaneswar from January 8 to 10, 2025. Along with the event, NRI visitors are also exploring the beauty of Puri district and seeking divine blessings at the Srimandir, with the city beautifully lit up for the occasion. The beach festival, a highlight of the celebrations, is set to begin tomorrow, reported pragativadi.com.
Vanisa Dhiru’s visit to the Shree Jagannath Temple
On Monday, Vanisa Dhiru from New Zealand became the first NRI to visit the Srimandir. Dhiru, a prominent figure in international diplomacy and human rights, is in Odisha to participate in the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas. She is the New Zealand National Commissioner to UNESCO and an advocate for ethnic and gender rights.
Dhiru’s warm reception and heartfelt gratitude
Dhiru was welcomed by Additional Collector Nilamadhaba Bhoi, Additional Sub Collector Nilamadhaba Majhi, and Srimandir Public Relations Officer Jitendra Kumar Mohanty, who guided her through the Shree Jagannath Temple and the Parikrama project.
Expressing her joy, Dhiru thanked the state government and district administration for the warm gesture and was grateful for the opportunity to have darshan of Mahaprabhu.
