During Holiday Trip: Group of 28 Indian tourists, including 14 from Kerala, met with tragedy while on vacation in Nyandarua region
In a devastating road accident in Kenya, six lives were lost, five of whom were Indian nationals from Kerala working in Qatar, the Indian Embassy in Qatar confirmed on Tuesday. The group had travelled from Qatar to Kenya for a short holiday, reported gujaratsamachar.com.
The tragedy struck on Monday at 4:30 pm in Kenya’s Nyandarua region, when a tour bus carrying 32 people, including 28 Indian tourists, veered off a rain-soaked road, crashed into a tree, and overturned while en route to Nyahururu town. The group had plans to stay at the Panari Hotel.

Among the deceased are 41-year-old Riya Ann and her seven-year-old daughter from Palakkad; her husband and son were injured and are hospitalised.
The Indian Embassy in Qatar, in a post on X, stated that it is working closely with local authorities and Indian community organisations in Kenya to provide all necessary assistance. Of the 28 Indian tourists, 14 were Keralites, and the remaining casualty details, including the identities of three other victims from Kerala, are awaited.
Officials from the Kerala Association in Kenya were quick to reach the accident site to coordinate relief efforts. According to Saji Sankar from Kenya, three individuals with severe injuries have been shifted to a top hospital in Nairobi. Official confirmation of names and further details is expected shortly from the Indian Embassy.
This heartbreaking incident underscores the need for enhanced safety precautions during international travel and has sent shockwaves through the Indian community in Qatar and Kenya.
