He narrated the emotional homecoming of the men—Shivarathri Mallesh, Shivarathri Ravi, Gollem Nampally, Dundugula Laxman, and Shivarathri Hanmanthu—all hailing from the Rajanna Sircilla district of Telangana. These individuals, once construction workers in Dubai, had their lives upended when they found themselves confined to the Sonapur Labour Camp under incarceration.

The road to their freedom was paved with efforts from both local and governmental authorities. Reddy recounted the pivotal role played by a Telangana government minister who personally intervened by visiting the family of a deceased security guard, seeking a ‘No Objection Certificate’ crucial for the release process. Subsequently, the minister journeyed to Dubai to advocate on behalf of the men, appealing to the local authorities for their liberation.
Their release from prison on February 18 marked a significant milestone, although it came with its own set of challenges. Stripped of their passports and travel documents, the men faced hurdles in returning home. However, with the assistance of the Indian consulate, a white passport was issued, facilitating their repatriation.

The quintet found themselves convicted of the homicide of a Nepali watchman named Bahadur during the mid-2000s, receiving a harsh 25-year sentence. On the recent homecoming of two of these individuals, a video circulated on X, capturing the emotional reunion of brothers Shivarathri Mallesham and Ravi from Peddur village with their awaiting family at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA). This heartwarming moment was made possible in part by the efforts of former minister and Sircilla MLA KT Rama Rao, who played a pivotal role in securing their release.
