NEW DELHI: Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, renowned for his instrumental role in India’s economic reforms, passed away on Thursday at the age of 92. Singh breathed his last at AIIMS Delhi, where he had been admitted earlier in the evening, reported timesofindia.indiatimes.com.
Singh, born on September 26, 1932, in undivided Punjab, took office as Prime Minister in 2004 and served a second term starting in 2009. His tenure is marked by landmark reforms and legislative changes such as the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) in 2005, the Right to Information Act, and the National Food Security Act in 2013.
