A post on X (formerly Twitter A new change to UK visa requirements, set to take effect in January 2025, will require international students and skilled workers to show up to 11% more funds than before to prove they can financially sustain themselves during their stay. The increase comes in response to rising monthly expenses, including accommodation, food, and rent ,reported by gujaratsamachar.com
The UK government has raised the fund requirements to address concerns over immigration’s impact on housing and the economy.
Under the new rules, individuals applying for a skilled worker visa will need to show a minimum annual income of GBP 38,700 (~₹41 lakh). This amount covers living costs, including accommodation and daily expenses. Additionally, applicants will need to provide a sponsorship letter from a UK-based employer approved by the Home Office.
If the candidate does not have a sponsor, they must deposit the required amount into their bank account for at least 28 days before applying for the visa. Alongside the increased fund requirements, application fees for various visa categories—including student, tourist, spouse, family, and child visas—will also rise.
However, certain groups, including those with special skills, caregivers, and health workers, will be exempt from some of these increases.
