The Gulf region has become a significant hub for Indian expatriates, housing a substantial population of 7.9 million Indians, as disclosed by V Muraleedharan, India’s Minister of State for External Affairs, during a session in the Indian Parliament.

Among the Gulf nations, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) stands out as the primary host of Indian professionals. Currently, the UAE employs a remarkable 3.554 million Indians, showing a rise from the 3.419 million recorded the previous year, as reported by the Wam news agency.

This increase of over 134,000 Indian workers in just a year emphasizes the UAE’s prominence as the preferred destination for Indian individuals seeking employment opportunities abroad.

Each of the Indian diplomatic Missions in Gulf countries maintains dedicated Labor Wings to address employment-related matters and provide assistance to the expatriate workforce

In a proactive move to support its expatriates, the Indian government has established Overseas Indian Help Centres in key Gulf cities like Dubai, Riyadh, Jeddah, and Kuala Lumpur. These centers offer essential guidance and counseling services to Indian workers, aiming to assist them in becoming exemplary expatriate residents within their host countries. Furthermore, each of the Indian diplomatic Missions in Gulf countries maintains dedicated Labor Wings to address employment-related matters and provide assistance to the expatriate workforce.

This intergovernmental collaboration underscores the mutual effort to ensure the well-being and success of Indian workers in the Gulf, fostering a positive environment for both professional growth and cultural exchange.
