Based on the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) data, around one-third of 405,303 new permanent residents been granted last year were Indians. This apart, 450,000 foreign students moved to North American countries i.e., Canada in 2021, in which around 50% were Indians.
10,000 Indians moved to the country under Canada’s Temporary Foreign Worker Programme and 130,000 obtained work permits using the International Mobility programme.
Canada also provides more than 100 economic class programs, and Indians use these multiple paths to move to Canada
Canada keeps up in recovering from the labor shortages which happened due to the pandemic, and depends mostly on migrants to fill in the gaps. The Canadian government has recently set the immigration levels plans to welcome one million new permanent residents by 2024, which means the number of yearly newcomers will be 430,000.
Canada also provides more than 100 economic class programs, and Indians use these multiple paths to move to Canada.
