The Hindu Canadian Foundation (HCF) has issued a strong condemnation following inflammatory remarks made by Khalistani extremists during Nagar Kirtan processions in Malton and Etobicoke, Toronto. The event, meant to celebrate Sikh tradition, took a controversial turn with an anti-Hindu parade that included calls to expel 800,000 Hindusfrom Canada, reported gujaratsamachar.com.

Replica jail with Indian leaders’ effigies sparks outrage among Hindu Canadians

A widely shared video from the Malton Gurdwara Nagar Kirtan shows a truck-mounted display featuring a mock jailwith effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. The HCF said such imagery, along with anti-Hindu chants, fuels hate and threatens Canada’s social fabric.

Hindu leaders and former MP call for urgent action against Khalistani extremism

The HCF’s statement urged all Members of Parliament and Provincial Legislators to unequivocally condemn the rhetoric, warning that “silence in the face of hate equals complicity.”

They stressed that Nagar Kirtans are spiritual events based on the inclusive teachings of Sikh Gurus, and should not be co-opted for political extremism.

Echoing the alarm, the Canadian Hindu Chamber of Commerce said, “Today’s calls for Hindu expulsion at Nagar Kirtans in Malton & Etobicoke are dangerous and must be condemned by all leaders.” The organization highlighted the presence of over 1.86 million Indo-Canadians, stating that hate speech on such a scale risks sparking deeper social unrest.

The incident comes amid a growing wave of Khalistani extremism in Canada. Just weeks earlier, the Lakshmi Narayan Temple in Surrey was defaced for the third time with pro-Khalistan graffiti.

Former Canadian MP Chandra Arya denounced the pattern in a public post: “These are not isolated incidents but a part of a well-organized, well-funded effort to silence Hindu voices and assert extremist narratives.”

Arya also cited the recent vandalism of the Khalsa Diwan Society’s Ross Street Gurdwara in Vancouver, where pro-Khalistan slogans were spray-painted. The Gurdwara’s management itself condemned the defacement, attributing it to “extremist forces seeking to divide the Sikh community and terrorize minorities.”

Concluding his statement, Arya urged Hindu and Sikh Canadians to unite against hate: “Silence is no longer an option. It is time for decisive action from all levels of government.
