In a significant boost to the Ravi Bhalla for Congress campaign, Hoboken Councilman Phil Cohen has officially endorsed Bhalla’s candidacy for the upcoming election. Cohen, who has been serving as the representative for Hoboken’s 5th Ward since 2019 and secured re-election in 2023, expressed his confidence in Bhalla’s ability to address critical issues both locally and nationally.

“Ravi has effectively addressed the most important issues affecting our community, including flood resiliency infrastructure, climate change, parks, green spaces, and Vision Zero progress for pedestrian safety,” stated Councilman Phil Cohen. “I have seen it firsthand — as a leader of the Hoboken Democratic Party, as an engaged community leader, and as a Councilman. I know he will bring that same results-oriented, innovative approach and dedication to taking on the most important challenges to our nation’s capital. I enthusiastically endorse Mayor Ravi Bhalla to represent New Jersey’s 8th Congressional District.”

As the campaign progresses, Bhalla continues to emphasize his vision for inclusive representation and proactive policymaking, drawing on his experience as Hoboken’s mayor and his track record of collaborative leadership

In response to Cohen’s endorsement, Ravi Bhalla expressed his appreciation, recognizing Cohen’s pivotal role in Hoboken’s progress. “I am pleased to have Councilman Phil Cohen’s endorsement,” said Bhalla. “Phil’s leadership on the City Council has been essential to so many of our accomplishments in Hoboken. He will be a tremendous advocate in Hoboken and throughout the 8th district for my Congressional candidacy.”

The endorsement comes at a crucial juncture as Bhalla gears up to challenge Representative Rob Menendez Jr. in the June 4th Democratic Primary. With Cohen’s backing, Bhalla aims to garner further support from constituents in Hoboken and across the 8th Congressional District, highlighting his commitment to addressing pressing issues and delivering tangible results for the community.

As the campaign progresses, Bhalla continues to emphasize his vision for inclusive representation and proactive policymaking, drawing on his experience as Hoboken’s mayor and his track record of collaborative leadership. With endorsements like Councilman Phil Cohen’s, Bhalla’s bid for Congress gains momentum, setting the stage for a competitive race in the upcoming primary election.

“I am thrilled to have the endorsement of Indian American Impact, an organisation that works to ensure that our government draws on the talents of all our people, including those from communities that have been too often excluded. I join Indian American Impact in believing that America’s diversity is its strength and that our nation is continually enriched by every new wave of immigrants. It is our unique strength,” Bhalla said in an interview with the Times of India.
