How to immigrate to Canada’s Alberta

Eligible candidates can submit a Business Application through AAIP’s online portal

PRAVASISAMWAD.COM

The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) is a provincial initiative designed to nominate individuals for permanent residency in Alberta, targeting those with skills to address labor shortages or who intend to establish or purchase a business in the province, reported economictimes.indiatimes.com.

The program is administered jointly by the Alberta government and the federal government of Canada. Successful nominees, along with their spouse or common-law partner and dependent children, can apply for permanent residency status through Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), which makes the final decision on all applications.

Streams for Workers and Entrepreneurs

AAIP offers two main pathways for prospective immigrants: for skilled workers and entrepreneurs. Each pathway has specific streams tailored to different profiles.

  1. Alberta Opportunity Stream: Launched in June 2018, this stream is for foreign nationals already working in Alberta who have a full-time job offer from an Alberta employer. Candidates must meet specific criteria related to work experience, job offer, language proficiency, and education.
  1. Alberta Express Entry Stream: Also launched in June 2018, this stream allows Alberta to select candidates from the federal Express Entry pool who demonstrate strong ties to the province and can contribute to regional economic development. Candidates nominated through this stream receive an additional 600 points to their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.
  2. Alberta Accelerated Tech Pathway: This stream fast-tracks candidates in the tech industry who have an eligible job offer from an Alberta employer. To qualify, candidates must meet the criteria of the Alberta Express Entry Stream and work in one of the 38 in-demand tech occupations.

Next Draw for Alberta PNP:

  • The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) does not announce specific dates for its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws

  • The frequency of draws varies based on Alberta’s immigration needs and quotas

  • To stay informed about upcoming draws, regularly check the official AINP website or subscribe to notifications for the latest updates

Streams for Entrepreneurs

  1. Rural Entrepreneur Stream: For entrepreneurs planning to start a business in rural Alberta.
  2. Farm Stream: Targets experienced farmers with the financial resources to launch a new farming operation in Alberta. A detailed business proposal is required.
  3. Graduate Entrepreneur Stream: This stream is for international graduates from Alberta post-secondary institutions who wish to start a business in Alberta. It uses a points-based Expression of Interest (EOI) system to rank candidates.
  4. Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur Stream: For recent graduates with a foreign post-secondary credential who want to start a business in Alberta.
