Hyderabad cops arrest Pak man who entered India illegally to live with wife, son; search on for in-laws

The police said Faiz Mohammed, who married Hyderabad native Neha Fathima while working in Sharjah, crossed over via the Nepal border with assistance from his in-laws.

Hyderabad: A 24-year-old man from Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province was arrested by Hyderabad police on Thursday, August 31, for illegally entering the country and staying in the city for the last 10 months, a special report in The Indian Express, says.

The police have seized a Pakistani passport and other documents from his possession.

Officers said Faiz Mohammed, had married Hyderabad native Neha Fathima while working in Sharjah.

He then crossed over via the Nepal border with assistance from his in-laws and has been living in the city with his wife and three-year-old son.

Since his arrest, the police are on the lookout for his in-laws Zubair Shaik and Afzal Begum who are absconding.

P Sai Chaitanya Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Zone) said Faiz had travelled from Pakistan to Nepal on a visiting visa and then illegally entered India through the Nepal border in November 2022.

The DCP told reporters that “Zubair Shaik and Afzal Begum received him at the Nepal border by managing the border officials and brought him home to Hyderabad’s  NM Guda in Kishan Bagh where he has been staying here illegally,”

“Later, the in-laws took Faiz to the Aadhaar office in Madhapur and tried to enrol him on their son Mohammed Ghouse’s name by submitting a birth certificate,” the DCP added.

The accused has been charged with an attempt to secure Indian nationality by illegally applying for an Aadhaar card and impersonating Fatima’s brother Ghouse.

Faiz was detained by sleuths of the Commissioner’s Task Force on a tip-off and handed over to the Bahadurpura police.

According to the police, Faiz had been working at a garment company’s stitching unit in Sharjah since 2018. There, a year later, he met Neha who worked as a maid. He helped her secure a job as a tailor with another company. They got married soon afterwardsand have a three-year-old son.

In November last year, Neha returned to Hyderabad due to health reasons and did not go back to Sharjah. Desperate to live with his wife and child, the police said, Faiz travelled to India.
