Indian Cultural Centre participates in tree planting initiative to mark Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday

The Ambassador thanked the municipal authorities and the Indian community for their participation and support in such  programmes, The MME has fixed a target to plant a million trees across Qatar under its ‘Plant Million Tree’ initiative. 

A tree plantation function was held with the joint participation of the Indian community, represented by members of the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) and Doha municipal authorities, a report in The Peninsula, Doha, says. 

The event was part of the 152nd birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi, held in the Old Airport Park.

Indian Ambassador to Qatar Dr Deepak Mittal, ICC Coordinating officer and 1st Secretary Xavier Dhanraj, and others took part in the event along with Mohammed Abdullaa Mohammed from the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME).

The Ambassador reiterated that the Indian community would extend all support and participate in planting a million trees across the country.

He added that Qatar was a home away from home for all Indians and that the  Indian community its very best to keep the environment clean and green.

Among the other attendees at the function were the ICC Management Committee, along with President PN Babu Rajan, as well as the ICC Youth wing team
