Chandigarh: Even after almost three years, a Pakistani bride Sidhra refuses to take off her red and gold ‘Lehega-Choli’ bridal dress in the hope that her husband-to-be Ijaz, will return so that their interrupted marriage can be solemised, a report in The Tribune, Chandigarh, says
In a video interview given to Pakistani YouTuber Syed Basit Ali, Sidhra says the truant bridegroom walked out from the marriage ceremony in the nick of time to join the long march rally of former Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party leader, Imran Khan.
Referring to Khan’s ‘Azadi March’ as ‘Dulha Chori March’, she has requested the former premier in her interview to beat her husband with a cane and send him back so that their marriage vows can be completed and they can be legally united as man and wife.
She has told interviewer Basit Ali that once they are finally united in marriage she too would join Ijaz in Imran Khan’s long march. “Until he doesn’t come back I will not take of my bridal attire and all the marriage arrangement will be kept on hold”, she says.
Sidhra and Ijaz were in love and had decided to wed with the blessings and approval of her parents, but Imran Khan’s rally dramatically altered the course of everything, But it has in no way changed Sidhra’s feelings of true love.
To a question about the mounting payments for hire of bridal attire and other accessories, Sidhra nonchalantly replies, “Imran Khan would have to bear the cost of all these expenses”.
Ijaz’s decision to attend the rally resulted in losses as her family had booked and paid for the catering, venue and other services.
“All these need not have happened in the first place, if he hadn’t run away”. She blames Khan and his rally for all that has happened “so he will have to pay the price for this huge interruption in my marriage and in my life”
Requesting Imran Khan, Sidra said, “Mai hath jodke unse request karti hoon ki mera dulha vapas kar de (I am requesting Imran Khan with folded my hands to return my groom).”
