India and Qatar strengthened their bilateral relationship at the 5th Round of Foreign Office Consultations (FOC), held on October 27, 2024, in Doha, Qatar.
Secretary Arun Kumar Chatterjee from India’s Ministry of External Affairs and Secretary General Dr. Ahmad Hassen Al-Hammadi from Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs co-chaired the meeting.
During the discussions, both nations reviewed their dynamic partnership across a range of sectors, including high-level exchanges, trade, investment, and energy cooperation.

Bilateral trade between India and Qatar is robust, valued at approximately USD 14 billion annually, and investment flows between the two countries are on the rise

Both countries share a resilient energy partnership, and the large Indian diaspora in Qatar further cements their close people-to-people ties
They explored opportunities to expand cooperation in emerging areas like renewable energy, fintech, start-ups, and technology. India and Qatar also exchanged views on pressing regional and global issues, affirming their shared commitment to collaborate on mutual interests.
India and Qatar’s relationship draws strength from deep-rooted historical connections and multifaceted engagements. In recent high-level visits, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Qatar’s Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani during his official visit in February 2024.
External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar also held productive talks with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, during his visit to Doha on June 30, 2024.
