Through such engagements, India and the UAE aim to create fairer opportunities for workers, blending policy with practical tech-driven solutions
India has reaffirmed its dedication to protecting migrant workers through active involvement in the 8th Ministerial Consultations of the Abu Dhabi Dialogue (ADD), held in Dubai from 31 January to 1 February.
Prashant Pise, Additional Secretary for Emigration Policy and Welfare at the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), headed the Indian team. Launched in 2008, the ADD brings together 11 Asian labour-sending nations and seven destination countries for open discussions on managed labour migration. It fosters sharing of best practices to ensure safe, orderly movement of workers and uphold their rights.

During the event, Pise met UAE officials, including the Undersecretary for Labour Market Development and Regulation, and the Assistant Undersecretary for Communications and International Relations at the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation
The talks covered key areas like enhancing welfare for Indian workers in the UAE, improving labour mobility, building skills, and deploying technology to streamline processes between the two nations.
These efforts build on strong India-UAE ties, established in 1972 with mutual embassy openings soon after. The Indian Embassy in Dubai highlighted Pise’s leadership on social media, emphasising the commitment to migrant support.
Echoing cultural values that resonate globally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his 25 January Mann ki Baat address, praised India’s family system as a cornerstone of tradition. He noted its appeal worldwide, with many nations admiring its structure—a sentiment that aligns with collaborative welfare initiatives abroad.
