In a steadfast display of regional solidarity, India has continued its humanitarian assistance to Myanmar under ‘Operation Brahma.’ On April 15, 2025, the Indian Air Force (IAF) deployed its C-17 aircraft to airlift components of 20 pre-fabricated office structures, weighing approximately 50 tonnes, to Naypyidaw.

These structures will serve as temporary offices for various Ministries of Myanmar as the country works to recover from the devastating earthquake that struck on March 28.

Operation Brahma highlights India’s role as the First Responder to Myanmar’s crisis, extending critical relief, medical support, and infrastructure assistance.

This ongoing support reflects India’s commitment to stand by Myanmar in times of need and strengthen the spirit of neighborhood-first diplomacy

As part of the same mission, two IAF C-17 aircraft also transported doctors and personnel from the 60-Para Field Hospital back to India following their successful deployment. The 200-bedded field hospital played a vital role in Myanmar’s recovery efforts, treating a total of 2,519 patients over two weeks.

Operation Brahma was launched immediately after the March 28 earthquake, making India the first nation to respond with humanitarian aid. So far, India has delivered approximately 750 metric tonnes of relief materials, which include essential medicines, food grains, ready-to-eat meals, tents, blankets, generators, deployable medical shelters, clean drinking water solutions, essential clothing, and 20 prefabricated structures for office and residential use.

In addition to supplies, India dispatched an 80-member NDRF Heavy Urban Search and Rescue team and a 127-member Indian Army Field Hospital team, underscoring the nation’s commitment to Myanmar’s relief and rehabilitation.
