Representatives from various levels of government, social workers, hospital management, and medical personnel attended the ceremony, acknowledging India’s role in strengthening Nepal’s healthcare capabilities
A newly constructed hospital building for Galyang City Hospital in Syangja, Nepal, funded by the Government of India, was officially inaugurated on Friday, October 25, aninews.in reported.
The structure, completed under the ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’ initiative, received financial backing of 40.13 million Nepali Rupees (NRs) from India.
The inauguration was a joint effort involving Avinash Kumar Singh, First Secretary of the Embassy of India in Kathmandu; Shree Prasad GT, Chief of the District Coordination Committee in Syangja; and Guru Prasad Bhattarai, Mayor of Galyang Municipality.
The funding supported not only the construction but also the procurement of essential medical equipment to enhance the hospital’s service capacity.
This hospital project reflects India’s continued support for Nepal’s development, reinforcing the long-standing, multi-sectoral partnership between the two nations
This initiative was executed as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP), part of a cooperative agreement between the Governments of India and Nepal, with implementation facilitated by the District Coordination Committee in Syangja.
Originally established in 2010 by local residents in a rented building, the Galyang Community Hospital aimed to provide quality healthcare to Syangja and surrounding districts.
Now rebranded as Galyang City Hospital, it is also financially supported by Galyang Municipality. The upgraded facility serves residents from Syangja, Palpa, Parbat, and Gulmi districts, offering enhanced infrastructure and a more conducive healthcare environment.
The embassy’s statement underscored the importance of this project, noting the shared commitment of India and Nepal to uplifting communities by bolstering infrastructure in critical sectors.
