Shree Janabikash Secondary School building is being erected at a cost of NRs. 33.70 million under the auspices of ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation.
In a significant stride towards bolstering educational infrastructure in Nepal, India has initiated the construction of two schools in the Darchula district, marking a milestone in the bilateral development cooperation between the two neighboring nations.
On Friday, Prashant Kumar Sona, Second Secretary at the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, laid the foundation stone for the Shree Himalaya Secondary School Building at Byas Rural Municipality-6 and Shree Janabikash Secondary School at Duhun Rural Municipality of Darchula district.
Accompanied by Mangal Singh Dhami, Chairperson of Byas Rural Municipality, and Narendra Bahadur Singh Badal, Chairperson of Duhun Rural Municipality, Sona spearheaded the ceremony symbolizing the commencement of these crucial projects.

The Indian government, through its financial assistance, is spearheading the construction of the Shree Himalaya Secondary School building with a budget of NRs. 28.20 million, while the Shree Janabikash Secondary School building is being erected at a cost of NRs. 33.70 million under the auspices of ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’.
Expressing gratitude for the continued developmental support, the Chairpersons of Byas and Duhun Rural Municipalities highlighted the significance of these projects in uplifting the educational standards and creating a conducive learning environment for the students in Darchula.
Since 2003, India has undertaken 551 High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) in Nepal, completing 489 projects across various sectors. Sudurpashchim Province alone has benefited from 40 such projects, including 10 in Darchula district.
Additionally, as part of its goodwill gestures, India has gifted 1009 ambulances and 300 school buses to hospitals, health posts, and educational institutions in Nepal. Sudurpashchim Province has received 60 ambulances and 20 school buses, with Darchula district being the recipient of eight ambulances and two school buses.
The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu reiterated the commitment of both nations to fostering wide-ranging cooperation, particularly in priority sectors like education. The implementation of HICDPs reflects India’s steadfast support towards Nepal’s developmental aspirations, emphasizing the enduring partnership between the two countries.
